A man in Rukungiri is battling for his life at Nyakibaale Hospital after a failed to attempt to slice his neck with a machete. Colonerio Ndyareeba, a resident of Nyakabingo B Village in Nyakajeme Sub County attempted to end his life after hacking Dafuroza Nuwamanya, a prominent businesswoman in Nyakahanga B Trading Centre to death and injuring her customer, Francis Muhereza.

According to Nanoka, Ndyareeba accused Nuwamanya of gossiping about his lover whom they broke up with recently following a misunderstanding.
After the incident, Ndyareeba locked up himself in a nearby house when residents ran after him and attempted to slice his neck. Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says police rushed to the house and found Ndyareeba bleeding after cutting his neck.
