Rukungiri Men Handed 100 Years for Murder& Robbery.

High court in Rukungiri has sentenced a 26 year old man to 50 years in prison for murdering Arinaitwe Robert who was a teacher at immaculate girls’ school in Rukungiri.

The convict Turyasingura Joshua alias Mafiyonso is a resident of Bwashwa cell in Bwindi Kayonza sub county, Kanungu district.

Prosecution led by state attorney Batson Baguma informed court that on November 26, 2011 while at Kayembe Cell, estern division in Rukungiri municipality, Turyasingura connived with one Natuwhera Naboth alias Kabina a businessman along Karegyesa road and murdered Arinaitwe and robbed his belongings. The two were arrested in March 2012.

Although Turyasingura confessed to the charges, his colleague Natuwhera vehemently denied any involvement in the murder and robbery.
 
Defence lawyer Milton Matsiko in his submission asked court to be lenient in passing the judgment since the accused has not wasted court time and he has seemingly repented.

The same court also sentenced, Edison Tukamuhebwa   to 50 years in prison for the murder of Edward Arinaitwe.
 
Prosecution told court that on 14th April 2013 Edison Tukamuhebwa of Butare, Nyarugunda, and Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district murdered one Edward Arianitwe.
 
He also pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 50 years in Prison. 
 
All those sentenced are to serve their sentences from Rukungiri Government Prison.
