Rukungiri Police Probes Tripple Murder

An angry mob in Rukungiri has lynched two youths suspected to have been behind the murder of a prominent matooke dealer.



35-year-old Boaz Akatwijuka, a resident of Kigarama cell in Nyakagyeme Sub County was killed by unknown assailants in the wee hours of Monday morning.

 
His body was found by residents this morning. They alerted police, which picked it up and took it to Nyakibare Hospital for postmortem.

 
Sezi Twinamastiko, the Kigarama Cell LC I Chairperson, says residents mobilised at around 11am and lynched 17-year-old Absolom Kipuje and 18-year-old Onesmus Abisinguza on suspicion they could have had a hand in the murder of the businessman.
 
According to Twinamatsiko, he tried to prevent the mob action but was overpowered by the residents. It is not yet clear why and how the residents connected the youth to the murder of Akatwijuka.
 
 
Justus Twinamastiko, the Officer-in-Charge of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department at Rukungiri Police Station, says investigations are ongoing into the murders. 



According to Twinamatsiko, they will pick up the ring leaders of the mob to face murder charges.
