Although the top seed Michael Kawooya did not play his game against Tony Kasujja which takes place this Wednesday night, the second seed Rukunya stopped Victor Walusimbi 3-0, while Okumu ejected Kenya’s Rizwan Khan 3-0 to book a place in the last eight.
 
Rukunya who also represented Uganda at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India will now face games Lawrence Matovu who saw off Stephen Namanya 3-1.
 
While Ivan Njuki and Paul Kadoma also made it to the quarter finals, the seniors’ category (35-49 years) has entered the semi final stage with former top seed Christopher Musaazi, William Byaruhanga, and Timothy Kayondo all making it. Musaazi beat Julius Musimenta 3-0, while Kayondo saw off Stephen Magero by the same score before Byaruhanga struggled to eliminate Richard Tinka 3-2.
 
Tournament organizer/referee Derrick Banyu said the women’s category enters the quarter final stage today night with Agnes Nabalonga facing Daisy Nakalyango, while top seed Edith Wamalwa takes on Joanita Nampijja.
 
The event sponsored by Nile Breweries Limited through their Castle Lite brand will climax on Saturday with the best players bagging cash and trophies.
