The government of Rwanda has sacked 74 civil servants after losing 850 million Rwandan francs to fraud.
 
Trouble for the officials started from the 2011/12 Auditor-General's report, which unearthed the theft of 850 million Rwandan francs.
 
Jules Marius Ntete, the Inspector-General of the National Prosecution Authority, says a file has been opened up against the officials. He says the implicated officials include two permanent secretaries and two director generals, whose identities he didn't disclose.

Others are directors of administration and finance as well as members of internal tender committees. Marius says at the district level, cases have been filed against 51 officials and four at the sector level.
