Champions of the 2014/2015 Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) could be decided this afternoon when the top two clubs SC Vipers and SC Villa face-off at the Nakivubo Stadium.
A win for SC Vipers will mean they become the champions, while any other result will mean that the League will be decided next Tuesday. SC Vipers lead the table with 63 points, while SC Villa are second on 62 points.
SC Villa who last won the title in 2004 have vowed to play their hearts out in a game they must win if they hope to make it 17 League titles. Coach Ibrahim Kirya told URN that he has asked his players to approach the game like it's a Cup final.
The likes of Stephen Bengo and experienced Hassan Mawanda Wasswa are expected to lead SC Villa, while former TP Mazembe midfielder Mike Mutyaba and Farouk Miya who scored in Uganda Cranes 1-0 away win to Nigeria in March lead SC Vipers.
In-case SC Villa fail to win the League title they still have a chance to represent Uganda in the 2016 CAF Confederations Cup if they beat KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup final early next month.
KCCA FC will also play away to Soana FC, while URA Fc host Police in the other League games on card on Friday. Entebbe FC and Rwenshama FC who are already relegated to the lower Division will also be in action against Kira Young and Lweza FC respectively.
Army side Simba SC will host Sadolin Paints FC, while Bidco FC battle Express FC and SC Victoria University host Bright Stars at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
