John Rex Achilla, the  Jinja Resident District Commissioner says police and other security operatives have been deployed and will keep peace throughout the election period.

Felix Mugizi, Jinja district police commander says so far eleven cases of violence have been reported. He says police will ensure that any form of violence and malpractice are eliminated.

Police patrol trucks would be seen on all roads in Kakira, Busedde, Butagaya, Walukuba, Masese, and Mpummudde,  Kimaka, and Buwenge the most probable areas of election violence.

The most contested constituencies include those vying for Jinja municipality Mayor where Magidu Batambuze is contesting against Dr. Muhammad Ilyas,

The other hot spot is Jinja Municiplaity West where the incumbent, Moses Balyeku is abttling with  Moses Kyemba.

In  Butembe County, the incumbent, Daudi Migereko is facing stiff competition from Nelson Lufafa, and John Banalya. In Kagoma County, the race is among Steven Walyomu, Brando Kintu and incumbent Mbagadhi Nkayi.

The Jinja District NRM Administrator, Michael Kasede says some candidates were still holding campaigns yet the campaigns officially ended.

He says the campaigns have been largely calm with a few isolated cases of attacks and clashes between campaign teams and hopes the Election Day does not turn violent.
