Security has been beefed up in Sembabule district, ahead of Thursday's district local council elections. Joint forces of the local administration police and the Special mobile police patrol unit, have been deployed to secure the district from any forms of violence. The Sembabule District police commander Alison Agaba says that the extra police deployed ensuring law and order in tomorrows elections. Sembabule was on Sunday a scene of running battles between the police and supporters of the two candidates Dr.Elly Muhumuza and the incumbent LC V chairman Herman Sentongo. The fighting on Sunday was sparked off by the declaration of Dr Muhumuza as the NRM candidate. President Museveni on Sunday introduced Dr Muhumuza as the NRM candidate in tomorrow's elections, and disowned the Incumbent District chairman Herman Sentongo, whom he had earlier introduced as the NRM candidate. Sentongo is standing as an independent candidate after he lost the NRM party primaries.
