Security Guard Commits Suicide On Duty

Charles Okene, a resident of Kalinabiri 2 zone in Bukit 2 Parish in Nakawa Division in Kampala shot himself through the neck in full view of his colleague, Lucas Opio. The bullet exited from the top of the head.

A security guard attached to Rock Security Services blew off his head on Christmas night while on guard duty at Atlantis Elegance Apartment in Ntinda. 



Charles Okene, a resident of Kalinabiri 2 zone in Bukit 2 Parish in Nakawa Division in Kampala shot himself through the neck in full view of his colleague, Lucas Opio. The bullet exited from the top of the head.
 

In his statement to police, Opio says Okene used the gun he was using to guard the apartments to shoot himself around 1am. He however, doesn't explain why Okene decided to take his own life and what he said minutes before the incident.




The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire says investigations are still ongoing to ascertain what exactly happened. "So far what we have is a case of suicide but we have to investigate and ascertain that it is exactly what happened," Owoyesigyire said. 


Scene of crime officers have already visited the scene and taken exhibits including the gun that was allegedly used by the deceased to take his life and the bullet that exited through his head. The bullet and gun have been handed over to a ballistic expert for comparison and analysis.  Police have handed over the body to the city mortuary for postmortem.
