The Southern Regional Inspector General of Government has ordered an investigation into the academic qualifications of 11 secretaries employed by the Sembabule district local administration. Wilson Aryaija says he has received reports that most of the secretaries were wrongfully retained by the District Service Commission during last year's restructuring exercise. He says that the secretaries presented forged academic papers to retain their jobs. The secretaries implicated include those working in the Salaries and Audit sections, and the Education and Community development departments. Also accused is the secretary of the District Chairman and that of the Chief Administrative Officer. Aryaija says that the secretaries presented academic transcripts from unrecognized institutions. He also says that 6 of the secretaries forged examination certificatess purportedly to be from Makerere University Business School and presented them to the District Service Commission. The Sembabule Chief Administrative Officer Robert Twesigye, and the Chairman District Service Commission Patrick Nkalubo, have summoned all the secretaries to defend their academic papers.
