Fiona Egunyu, the senior presidential advisor on legal affairs is dead. Egunyu died on Sunday morning at Kitante Medical Hospital in Kampala. Francis Otigo, a cousin to the deceased, says Egunyu who has been ill was admitted at Kitante Medical Hospital last week after her condition worsened.

Jaff Akiror Egunyu, the Tourism state minister who is also a sister to the late Fiona, promised to provide details about the death saying they were still at the hospital when she spoke to our reporter on phone. Akiror says the death of Egunyu has left a big gap in their family since she was a very committed and dedicated person.

Christine Helen Amongin Aporu, the Minister for Teso Affairs has described the death of Egunyu as a big blow to the people of Teso. Aporu said she was shocked to hear the news, only two days after they buried retired bishop Geresom Ilukor, who was a pillar in Teso. Egunyu was born in 1963 to Janaviv Arwenyo and Francis Egunyu, both residents of Omitoi village Kapir Sub County in Ngora district.

She represented Kumi district in the Constituent Assembly and Ngora County in the 6th Parliament. Her husband Captain John Baguma died in June last year and was buried in Kabarole district. Egunyu leaves behind three children, two girls and a boy.
