The incumbent chairman for sembabule district, Herman Sentongo has been declared winner of the Sembabule district local council elections.
The declaration by the district returning officer, officially gives Sentongo a second consecutive term as district chairman.
Sentongo won the election after receiving 28,471 votes, against his rival contender Dr Elly Muhumuza who polled 21, 825 votes.
Sentongo stood as an independent candidate, after he lost the NRM party primaries to Dr Elly Muhumuza.
The district returning officer Ibra Kakembo declared Sentongo winner at 3 am, sending wild cheers and celebrations in Sembabule district.
