He says police and the UPDF will remain deployed in the area to avert any possible clashes between the two tribes.

The events come barely one week after tribal clashes erupted between the Lendu and Bagegere communities in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo forcing thousands of Congolese to flee to Nkondo and Sebigoro Landing sites in Kabwoya Sub County, Hoima district.

Such clashes have been a common occurrence in Hoima district over the years. At least 20 houses were burnt in 2014 during clashes between Bahima herdsmen and Alur farmers in Kigorobya Sub County. The area has also seen clashes between Bagungu communities and pastoralists in the area.
