500 million shillings has been earmarked for improvement of human settlement in Nyendo town, Masaka District. The United Nations Habitat under the United Nations Human Settlement Program has provided the money. According to the Nyendo Ssenyange Division Chairman, Charles Matovu Kabulasoke, Nyendo is one of the towns that have been identified in the southern region with poor settlement. The programme will cover 10 towns in Southern Uganda including Mutukula and Kyotera in Rakai district. Matovu said the money is going to be used on feeder roads, drainage system and garbage collection among others. Rose Nabunya a resident of Kakyafu in Nyendo welcomed the idea but suggested that some of this money should be used to improve health services in the only government hospital in the area.
