Six Nominated For Njeru Municipality Mayoral Race

Azizi Junju, one of the losers of the NRM primaries told URN he decided to go independent because the party polls were not free and fair especially in Nyenga division where his opponent, Yasin Kyazze scored highly.

Six candidates have been nominated for the Njeru municipality mayoral race. They are Yasin Kyazze, the National Resistance Movement party candidate, FDC's Amos KIvumbi, Diana Kagyenyi, Ceaser Kalema, Joseph Opndo Opondo and Azizi Junju, all independents.
 
The candidates were nominated over a three days period. Most of the independents contested in the NRM primaries and lost. They rejected the poll results, saying the primaries were fraught with irregularities.
 
 
Stella Byenkya, the Buikwe Assistant Returning Officer described the three day exercise as successful, saying they expect the candidates to behave come the Election Day July 8th.

Azizi Junju, one of the losers of the NRM primaries told URN he decided to go independent because the party polls were not free and fair especially in Nyenga division where his opponent, Yasin Kyazze scored highly. Junju came second in the NRM primaries after garnering 2457 compared to Kyazze's 16676 votes.
 
 
According to Junju, since he had nowhere to report his concerns, he decided to come as an independent.

The FDC candidate, Amos KIvumbi narrowly missed the nomination because of some mistakes on his papers. He however, corrected the anomalies was nominated a few minutes to the closure of the exercise. Kivumbi asked the voters to rally behind him, saying he understands the problems of Njeru municipality.
