Six Jailed for Kidnap

The high court in Hoima has sent to jail six people for kidnap and Murder. On June 6th 2007, the suspects, all residents of Lenju Village in Kigorobya Sub-county kidnapped Benon Musafiri from Buhirigi village in Kigorobya Sub County. Musafiri's whereabouts has remained a mystery. The suspects have for the last one year refused to divulge any information related to Musafiri's whereabouts. The suspects have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. But Ralph Ochan, the Hoima High court judge, sent them to jail till November 4th. Kidnap is a capital offense contrary to sections 243 of the penal code act. In another case, a man in Hoima has been jailed for double murder. Geoff Magezi a resident of Kyarubanga village in Kyabigambire Sub county Hoima district is accused of murdering Amon Kasangaki and Margaret Kyokuhaire at their home in Kibegenya in the same Sub County. Court heard that the accused committed the offense on December 5th 2004. He stormed the home of the duo and murdered his victims, a day after they quarreled with him. He has been sent back to jail pending further investigations into this case. More than 300 cases have been presented for hearing in the ongoing month-long high court session in Hoima.
