Six Nabbed for Shop Breaking

Six suspected robbers have been arrested in Butaleja for their alleged involvement in shop break ins. The suspects are Juma Kyobe a special hire taxi driver, Shaban Mukhwana, a carpenter, Zedi Byangu, a student of Alliance College, and Baker Were a businessman in Busolwe town council. Jennifer Akiding, the officer in charge of Busolwe police post says that the suspects broke into six retail shops in Busolwe town council and stole merchandise worth 45 million shillings. Akidingi says that the suspects were tracked down by police dogs which were brought vin from Mbale following the robbery incident. She says that the suspects have been on the list of the most wanted robbery suspects in Butaleja district. As news about their arrest started filtering in, a mob emerged and threatened to lynch the suspects, but was restrained by the police. On interrogation, the suspects admitted to being involved in a spate of more than 20 incidents of robbery in and around Butaleja district. Alex Olowo, The officer in charge of Butaleja central police station, says the suspects will be taken to court shortly to answer charges of robbery.
