SPCs held in Soroti over police officer's death

Two Special police constables [SPC] in Soroti districts suspected of shooting to death a police officer last week have been arrested. The duo whose identities the police have declined to disclose, are being held alongside another suspect. The District Police commander [DPC] Soroti Sam Musisi says the SPCs are suspected to have connived with thugs to kill Wilbrod Obbo the officer in charge of Kichinjanji police post in Northern Division. They reportedly robbed from a Soroti business man in Moru Apesur ward. According to Musisi the SPCs escaped from a night patrol to commit the crime. He says one constable lured Obbo to walk on foot after he had arranged with the thugs to kill him. Musisi says the suspects were netted when returned with rusty bullets in their guns instead of the news ones they had when they were deployed. Obbo was shot in the head. His assailants made away with his gun. At least 20 people have been arrested in connection with the murder and police say more suspects are still on the run. The prime suspect believed to have pulled the trigger is being held with his wife.
