Kabakas lawyers led by the Attorney General of Buganda Kingdom, Daudi Mpanga welcomed the ruling and asked his subjects to stop suing him.

David F.K Mpanga, the Attorney General of Buganda Kingdom has asked Buganda loyalists to stop dragging the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to court and instead follow traditional mechanisms of resolving disputes.

He made the appeal at a press conference held at the Kingdom headquarters in Mengo on Monday shortly after the Court of Appeal overturned high court orders directing Kabaka Mutebi to avail bank statements showing details of the money he has collected in registration fees from occupants of the Kingdom land since 1993.

Justice Patricia Basaza issued the orders last year following an application by Male Mabirizi, a subject of Buganda kingdom challenging the decision by the Kabaka to charge occupants of kingdom land between Shillings 100,000 and 600,000 as compulsory registration fees.

Mabirizi argued that the collection of the registration fees from the occupants of the Mailo land was unlawful. However, a panel of three Court of Appeal Judges overturned the orders, saying Mabirizi didn't prove to court that he was representing several other occupants.

Kabaka's lawyers led by the Attorney General of Buganda Kingdom, Daudi Mpanga welcomed the ruling and asked his subjects to stop suing him. Mpanga argued that suing the Kabaka contradicts the cultural norms and values of the kingdom.

Mpanga said Buganda Kingdom has a competent team of lawyers that is ready to take on whoever sues Kabaka. He said Mabirizi has made unnecessary applications against the Kabaka in the name of looking for fame and playing comedy, which affects the Kabaka who leads more than eight million people.
