A storm has devastated St. Michael high school in Rubirizi district destroying buildings and vitals documents at the school. The affected documents include certificates of former students and registration forms for this year’s UCE and UACE candidates.

The storm also destroyed the kitchen, toilet, store, library and some staff houses, which had their roofs blown off. Vincent Nuwahereza, a student leader says the destruction of the toilet block, which serves the entire school population, is causing discomfort among students.

Nuwahereza says students are now roaming around looking for where to answer natures call. He says the situation worsens in the night as students defecate in the compound. Leopold Ddamulira, the deputy head teacher St. Michael high school more than 100 million shillings is needed to come up with interim measures to reverse the terrible situation at the school.

He says they will engage the education ministry to see what can be done to ensure the school programs continue as planned. St Michael high school has a total population of 780 students.
