Residents of Ssembabule town council, in Ssembabule district have raised concern over the increasing number of stray dogs in the area.
 
Locals claim that stray dogs have become a menace in the town putting their lives in danger of because of the risk of catching rabies since most of the dogs are not immunized.
 
Residents led by Joseph Ssentongo accuse the council authorities of not doing enough to control the number of stray dogs in the area.
 
Ssentongo says that most of the stray dogs terrorizing the area come from cattle farms on the outskirts of the town council to look for food. The dogs scavenge around abattoir and garbage skips. 
 
Residents complain that the dogs have started terrorising them because they move in packs of 10 to 15 dogs.
 
Jude Kasekende, Ssembabule town council Mayor, says that his office has registered several complaints especially from farmers under NAADS Program who have lost animals like goats and chicken to stray dogs.
 
He, however, says that he is going to address the matter to district veterinary department to come to the residents rescue and save them from the dangers of the stray dogs.
