Besigye Promises Iron Sheet For Busoga

Ugandans should stand firm and fight for their rights if they are to cause regime change in the coming election, Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has said.

Speaking at a rally in Bugaya, in Buyende district, the three time presidential contender called on the people to redeem themselves from a government that "has exploited them" for close to 30 years now.

Dr Besigye arrived in Busoga region this morning via Mbulamuti landing site, in Buyende district and was welcomed by FDC leaders in the region.

He held his first rally in Irundu, where he promised to provide 10 iron sheets to every family staying in a grass thatched house.

"There are many grass thatched houses here in Busoga and this is a reflection of the high poverty levels in this region. We have included in our budget a special fund to help sort out this problem," says Besigye

The heavy morning downpour did not dampen the spirit of the electorate as thousands gathered to welcome Dr. Besigye in Buyende district.

As Dr. Kiiza Besigye, traversed through Kamuli district hundreds of supporters joined him along the way to Buyende, where he has held several mini rallies. The rallies have been held in Irundu, Bugaya and Makanga, Kiwaaba trading centres.

The FDC candidate also blamed government for the poor road infrastructure and corruption that is impoverishing Ugandans.

Besigye is expected to hold his first main rally in Busoga region at 5pm, in Kamuli Taxi Park today.
