Police in Gulu district are investigating the death of a security guard at a welding plant.

Sixty-five-year-old Alex Bedogwa died while on guard duty at Kwok Lim welding plant in Ring Road, Pece Division in Gulu Municipality.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River region police spokesperson says investigations are underway to establish the cause of death. He says unknown thugs could have clobbered the deceased to death since his body bears multiple injuries to his forehead.

Police suspects that Bedogwa could have been a victim of strings of robbery that caused havoc in the Municipality last night.

Technicians working in the plant alerted police after they found lying dead as they reported for duty this morning.

Terence Okwonga, the area local leader says the body had been covered by used polythene bags which never existed in the plant.

Fred Opoka, 38, a technician with Kwok Lim said they were in shock to find a hardworking colleague dead. He says Bedogwa had worked in the plant for two years.

The incident brings to three the number of residents mysteriously murdered in Gulu town within a space of two months. In July, police discovered a dead body of an unidentified man along Juba road in Olailiong sub ward in Layibi division.

A few weeks later, Police recovered the body of another unidentified man from Ring Road ward. Residents of the area are asking security to increase vigilance and prevent a repeat of such killing.
