Two people are battling for their lives at Soroti regional referral hospital after they were beaten into coma on Christmas. They are Immaculate Asamo, who was hit with a beer bottle by her boyfriend in Moruapesur, a suburb of Soroti municipality and 26-year-old Jorem Ojemai, who was attacked by thugs.

It is alleged that Asamo was attacked by her boyfriend whose names were not readily available at a drinking joint for playing him with another man, while Ojemai was attacked at Akwangkere  bridge  in Kamuda  sub-county as he was returning home at mid-night after enjoying his Christmas at Arapai trading centre  near the defunct  Ginnery .

Simon Oriokot, a friend to Ojemai says that he found comrade lying unconscious few hours after he had been assaulted by thugs. Alice Epaku, a nurse at Soroti regional referral hospital told URN that Asamo sustained a deep wound on her forehead and is need of an operation. Joab Wabwire, the Soroti District Police Commander says that they have so far arrested one person in connection to the attack on Ojemai.
