Two Daily Monitor Staff Killed in Accident

A source close to the Daily Monitor says the dead were part the circulation department. They were returning from delivering the Sunday Monitor to Mbale.

Two Monitor Publication Ltd, employees have died in a fatal motor accident along the Mbale-Tirinyi high way.

The accident occurred at Nabweyo trading centre near Budaka Town, when their Toyota Probox vehicle registration number UAW 084A rammed into a Fuso Lorry Truck, registration number UAN 983 at  around 5am  this morning. 
The dead have been identified as Tony Kaddu, a driver and Daniel Aada, a staff from the Circulation department.

Two other passengers traveling in the saloon car were critically injured. They are admitted at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital . They were identified injured as Sarah Apio and Sarah Nafuna. Thee injured were not staff of the Monitor Publications Ltd.
The accident victims were heading back to Kampala after delivering Sunday Monitor to Mbale town.

David Ndoboli, an eyewitness says the accident occurred after the Daily Monitor driver tried to overtake a speeding Fuso Truck at a bad spot. He says the Daily Monitor van rammed beneath the heavy laden Fuso truck killing the co-driver on the spot.

Anna Iromu, the Budaka Traffic Officer declined to comment saying they were investigating circumstances under which the accident occurred.

She said none aboard the Fuso Lorry Truck died or sustained injuries. The bodies of the deceased are lying at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
