Two people have been killed in a motor accident in Fort Portal. The accident occurred on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm on Kakiza road in West Division, Fort Portal Municipality.
The dead, whose identities are yet to be established, were travelling with others from a burial in Burungu village in Karambi Sub County.
Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori Region Police Spokesperson says that the mourners were travelling on top of a Fuso truck registration number UAS 065B, which overturned several times after the driver failed to negotiate a corner on Kakiza road.
According to Tumushabe, 33 people were injured in the accident and were rushed to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital. She attributed the accident to reckless driving.
