Two men said to be masterminds behind a spate of motorcycle thefts and highway robberies in the Southern Region have been remanded to Masaka Central Prison. They are charged with aggravated robbery.
 
They were sent on remand by Masaka Grade1 Magistrate Hood Matovu on Monday.
 
Prosecution led by Peter Mugisha told court that on 3rd February 2013, Edward Ssebutinde and Kalema Ssebugwawo (18), a boda cyclist, both residents of Nyendo, in Masaka Municipality were arrested from their hideout in Nyendo.
 
Prosecution further told court the men were found with an assortment of stolen property including a TV Set, 2 mattresses,7 knives, 4 hammers, 12 sets of screws,  jerricans  of diesel, a computers, and a DVD player.
 
Mugisha also told court that the duo was also arrested with a car registration UAN 800N which was stolen during one of their highway robberies.   
 
The presiding Magistrate Matovu informed the men that they could only answer their charges before the High Court because their offence is of a capital nature. He remanded them until April 2nd when they will appear in court.
