The Uganda Gazelles will be hoping to pick their first win when they battle South Africa on Monday in their fourth Group A tie at the on-going 2015 AfroBasket Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.

On Saturday evening the Gazelles lost 86-34 to the hosts Cameroon to give them no chance of making it to the next stage. The team handled by Timothy Odeke have already lost to Gabon and Mozambique.

Odeke told URN that although they have already lost three matches, the exposure will help his players develop better. "We want to try and get a win in our next game," added Odeke.

South Africa have also lost all their three games in the Group, while Cameroon lead the group with three wins. The hosts were lucky to pick a 44-43 win over 2015 All Africa Games gold medal winners last Friday.

In Group B Angola have won all their three games, while Egypt have picked two victories. Uganda is grouped in Pool A alongside Gabon, Cameroon, Mozambique, South Africa and favourites Mali.

The event which has brought together 12 nations will climax on October 3 with the best team clinching the only direct qualifying berth on offer for African teams for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
