Unidentified thugs have shot dead three people and vanished with two motorcycles and over a million Shillings in two separate incidents in Arua town. Police identify the deceased as Thomas Adiga, a cashier at Buddies Pub in Arua town, Ibrahim Rashid Anguzu, a boda boda rider and his unidentified colleague.

Adiga was shot at around 11:30 pm while attending to customers while Anguzu and his colleague were killed in Muni trading center between 3am and 4am. Maxwell Modise, the manager of Buddies Pub, says two armed thugs came from behind the bar and fighting at the revelers forcing them to scamper for their lives.

He says Adiga was hit while attending to some revelers by the poll side killing him instantly. Modise says the thugs advanced to the bar and picked all the money for the day's sales from the counter and vanished. "There are thugs all over and we do not know their target. I don't know if we have any conflict with anyone, we have been good to everyone and it's quite unfortunate that this has happened here," he said.

According to Modise, although Buddies Pub is about 300 meters away from Arua Central Police station on Arua-Anyafio-Mvara road, it took police more than hour to respond to the shooting. Police took Adiga's body to Arua Hospital mortuary for postmortem. It also recovered six bullet cartridges from the bar for examination.

Modise says an unknown person took away their stand by generator about three days before the attack. Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, says they recovered over 15-bullet cartridges where the boda boda rider was killed near Muni Church of Uganda.

"Police still wondering as to how guns are getting into the hands of thugs but our main appeal to the public is to liaise with security for quick action against such cases," said Angucia.
By the time of publishing this story, Arua District Security Committee was locked up in an emergency meeting.

The Thursday night attacks brings to four the number of people killed in Arua town in a spate of one week. On May 15th 2018, Private James Otimong, a UPDF soldier attached to the 57th battalion, 503 Brigade was found dead at the Trade Show at Arua Hill grounds in Arua town.

His attackers made off with his gun UE0406 with 120 rounds of ammunition. According to police, the motive of the killings remains unknown since no arrests have been made. Police has opened inquiries under Arua CRB 1497/2018.
