Dennis Galabuzi, the Vice President of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) in-charge of technical issues, has blasted the International Boxing body-AIBA for calling off the elections of Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) elections last Saturday. He accuses the International Boxing body of canceling the election based on allegations made by some people. AIBA blocked the elections to pave way for a meeting between UOC officials, Dr Abdellah Bessalam (President Africa Boxing Confederation), Patricia Steulet (AIBA Director External relations) and AIBA’s Legal Manager Aine Power.

The elections had attracted by ex- professionals Sam Rukundo, Godfrey Nyakaana and former UABF Secretary General David Kyambadde Kawuzi. Galabuzi says that AIBA canceled the election basing on a petition filed by David Kyambadde instead of UOC who are on command of organizing the house of boxing in Uganda.

But Galabuzi says that he will ashame Bessalam in London because he had since contradictory letters he has written to Uganda in the last three years, adding that he cannot convince him. He wonders why AIBA wants to send an observer for the UABF elections at Uganda’s expense, yet they didn’t ask for observers. But UOC Acting President William Blick down plays the cancelation of the elections saying that it ok to meet the AIBA officials and have smooth elections.
