On Thursday, Justice Yasin Nyanzi declared the presidency of Akena illegal, saying he was not elected legally. Sam Rwakojo, the Electoral Commission Secretary told URN that they have not yet got the ruling.
He however, said Electoral Commission department will advise them on how to deal with UPC flag bearers nominated by Akena.

Isha Otto, the UPC National Mobilisation Secretary, says the National Executive Committee (NEC) will convene to decide on the convening the National Council, which is the top most organ of the party for the election of the UPC party president among others.
