The Rapid Response Unit in Masaka has arrested five people including a UPDF deserter, for alleged robbery. Private Moses Kayemba, formerly attached to the UPDF's casualty unit in Mubende district, was part of the gang of five who were arrested last night from Lwengo sub-county. The suspects were found with an assortment of stolen items worth 11 million shillings. Private Moses Kayemba's accomplices have been identified as Anthony Suuna, Robert Ntege, Rogers Kayondo and Kasim Sebunya, all residents of Kiwangla and Senya villages. Police recovered a saloon car, reg No UAL-220C, two motorcycles No UDQ-024V and UDL-377Z that were stolen from residents in Kampala and Masaka district. Noah Serunjogi, the southern police spokesman, says the suspects have been terrorizing residents, robbing them of their valuable items and money. Last week, the suspects raided Nakatete Baptist primary school, and robbed the school of its computers, solar panels and 600,000 shillings. Serunjogi said that more than five people have so far met their death at the hands of the ruthless robbers, which have over the past ten months been terrorizing the area. He says the suspects will be taken to court shortly to answer charges of robbery.
