Former national athletes, Raymond Diogo and Frank Bwambale have donated track and field equipment to local athletes. The equipment will boost upcoming athletes as they prepare for this year's World Junior Championships and Africa Senior Championships both scheduled to take place in August in China and Mauritius respectively. Diogo says he was compelled to support the home team because he is aware of the hardships that Ugandan athletes face in training. Diogo's equipment will go to his former school, Kampala International University runners like Samuel Mawanda, Timothy Kabuye, Daniel Kabali, Paul Okello, Isaac Nabaasa and Isaac Musoke Bwambale's donation will go to Nkumba University athletes like Francis Yiga, Francis Kasagure, Joseph Nsubuga and other Kampala based cross-country runners with whom he used to train on the Kampala hills. Meanwhile both Diogo and Bwambale currently studying at the University of New Orleans will clash with fellow Ugandans Tonny Okello, Lillian Ajok, Steven Larubi, and Harry Larubi at this weekend's Sun Belt conference that climaxes the athletics season in the USA. The games will take place at the University of Lafayatte stadium.
