Ebili Ssegawa, embattled Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Super League Limited –USLL is carrying on with his normal duties despite a ban imposed on him by the local football federation. Last month, the disciplinary committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Association banned Ebili for one and Kavuma Kabenge, USLL Chairman for 11 years.
The duo was accused of shunning summons by the disciplinary committee for breaching the rules government the local super league. Both officials wrote back to the committee saying that they would honor the summons because they are not members of the federation. Their action attracted a ban from the local football governing football federation.
But despite the ban, Ssegawa has continued carrying on with his normal duties saying that he was employed by the USLL board. According to Ssegawa he still has to ensure that referees are paid and all other administrative duties are carried out. However, when contacted FUFA Vice President in-charge of the League, Mujib Kasule said as far as they are concerned Ssegawa and Kabenge are banned.
He says that FUFA is not aware whether or not the officials are working since they don’t communicate with them directly. Insiders in USLL told this reporter that the two banned officials have continued to do their work and the League is running smoothly. On Tuesday morning Ssegawa was found at the USLL offices in Bukoto carrying out his duties. The two banned officials last Friday also represented USLL during the launching of a Super Sport Channel at the Sheraton Hotel.
