Kenya skipper Victor Wanyama has tipped Uganda to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Speaking after the Harambee Stars held Uganda Cranes to a barren draw in an International friendly at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday Wanyama said they are behind Uganda to beat Comoros on Sunday to qualify for Afcon.

Wanyama who features for Tottenham in the English Premiership said that qualification for Uganda will be good for East African football. "This time Uganda has a very good team compared to the last qualifiers," added the tough midfielder who played well in the build-up game which saw Kenya show dominance in attack.

The Cranes who face Comoros in a Group D game on Sunday need to win to be able to accumulate 13 points and either qualify as top of the group or be among the best two teams to finish second.

Stand-in Uganda Cranes captain Tony Mawejje said although they had settled for a draw against Kenya, they will work harder in the reminding days to be able to put up a better show on Sunday and win the game.

While Uganda will play host to Comoros, the Harambee Stars will battle Zambia in their last Afcon qualify. Uganda last qualified for Afcon in 1978 when they lost 2-0 to hots Ghana in the final.
