The 25-year old Princess Kabatalesa disagreed with her father's choice of a new Principal Private Secretary (PPS) and on November 2 wrote a letter sacking him.

To ensure her decision received maximum attention, the letter sacking the newly appointed Omukama PPS Jonan Atuhura was circulated to the local press.

In the letter, Princess Kabatalesa accused Atuhura of being unqualified for the job, misleading the king and also hanging around the palace without appointment.

An angry Omukama Iguru then took the unprecedented step of calling a press conference and publicly dressing down his daughter.

Omukama Iguru not only publicly reprimanded his sixth born child but also warned her against trying to interfere in Bunyoro Kingdom administration. He then stated that Atuhura remains his PPS.

Uganda Radio Network has since learned that the royal clan council plan to have a meeting this week to address the spat between father and daughter that spilled into the public domain.

Fred Mugenyi Rucunya, the head of the royal clan (Okwir), says the clan council will meet before the end of the week to discuss the impasse at the palace and find a way forward.

The scheduled Wednesday meeting had to be cancelled as Rucunya was called away for another engagement.

Rucunya says the meeting will try to find a way for Atuhura and Princess Kabatalesa to work together.

Princess Kabatalesa was appointed by the royal clan to be the palace secretary.

But some Karuziika Palace watchers and elders blame the fall out on Atuhura's youth and inexperience.

The elders, who asked not to be named, say that many palace officials including Princess Kabatalesa regard Atuhura as too young for the position of Omukama Iguru's PPS.

Atuhura was appointed early this year to replace Yolam Nsamba who retired in January as PPS. Atuhura is in his late 20s.

Princess Kabatalesa herself is 25 years old. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Business.

In his angry remarks at the press conference, Omukama Iguru intimated that Princess Kabatalesa had always been a strong headed child. He, however, said that now that she was an adult, he would not tolerate her whims anymore.

Jonan Atuhura, the Omukama Iguru's Principal Private Secretary has been a motor cyclist (boda boda rider) in Hoima town and also an NRM youth mobilizer in Kitoba Sub county, Hoima district. He's also an ally of 1st Deputy Premier Henry Muganwa Kajura and infact he was a member of his campaign taskforce as he contested for Hoima Municipal MP seat in the last elections. It's rumoured that Kajura hand picked him for the King.

Atuhura is also a shareholder in Allied Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation found in Kiryatete,Hoima Municipality. Little is known about his level of education but those close to him say he did not study beyond senior four.
