Woman Held for Torturing Own Daughter

Immaculate Namanya, a resident of Ndeeba cell Lower in Kabale Municipality is in trouble for torturing her 8-year-old daughter for alleged theft of Shillings 50,000. Namanya was picked up by Police today on a tip off by local council officials.
 
 
Moses Sabiiti, a neighbor to the suspect says they heard the minor crying for help at 10pm on Tuesday night and rushed to see what was happening, only to find Namanya cutting her with a knife on the back, chest and hands.

He says they immediately notified the local council one chairperson for intervention. Sabiiti says that when they asked Namanya why she was torturing the minor, she arrogantly told them she doesn't care what happens to her.

According to Tumwijukye, they alerted police, which swung into action and rushed the minor to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital. Tumwijukye says this is not the first time Namanya is being accused of torturing the same child.
 
 
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says the suspect was picked up from hiding in Kabale Town and in custody at Kabale Central Police Station.  According to Maate, the suspect will be charged with Child torture.
 
 
Maate wonders why a mother can torture her biological child instead of protecting her from harm.

In her defense, Namanya says she acted in anger and wants police to forgive her.  Namanya is not the only parents torturing her child. 

On November 3rd, police picked up Gerevazio Tushabomwe, a boda-boda rider and resident of Rwakaraba cell in Northern division for brutally assaulting his 10-year- old son.
 
 
Tushabomwe attacked the minor with a machete accusing him of watching music from a neighbor's television. He later claimed he beat up the minor for selling a mobile phone.
