Lack of enough structures is hampering effective education service delivery at Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing.

Located at Makanga hill in Kabale district, the school started in September 1972 with only 120 students.  Currently, the enrollment stands at 655. But, Josephine Nambilo Kigozi, the Institution principal says that inadequate structures to accommodate students and staff as well as to act as lecture rooms is a big challenge.

Speaking on Wednesday during the 8th graduation ceremony of 521 students, Kigozi explained that lack of enough structures is making students rent outside the school premises hence becoming expensive and inconveniencing them.  She also says that the institution is being exposed to land grabbers due to lack of a fence.

Kigozi was backed by Dr. John Philbert Nyeko, the institution’s Governing Council Chairman. According to Nyeko, security of the students who rent outside the institution premises is not guaranteed.  Nyeko also says that the institution gets stuck during periods of exams where students are required to sit alone and in a distance yet there are no structures for them where to sit.  He calls upon the government to intervene and construct more structures.

Fred Byamukama, State Minister of Works and Transport who represented John Chrysostom Muyingo, State minister for Higher Education promised to deliver the concerns to relevant education ministry officials for discussion.  Byamukama also asked graduates to avoid extravagance and corruption during their life outside school.
