The body of Ambassador William Wasa Wamimbi, the first Umukuuka of the Bamasaba Cultural Institution alias Inzu Ya Masaba will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Busano village in Mbale district on April 20th, 2024.
This is according to an official communication issued by Ambassador Charles Walimbwa Peke, the Prime Minister of Inzu Ya Masaba. Wease breathed his last at Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala on Friday April 12, 24.
According to Walimbwa, a memorial service will be held in honor of the late Wamimbi at St. Luke’s Church in Ntinda, Kampala on April 16th, 2024 before departing for Mbale.
The body will be taken to Lukhobo hall in Mbale on Wednesday on April 17th, 2024 for a special sitting in honor of the deceased. Wamimbi served as the LC V chairperson for greater Mbale district prior to his appointment as Uganda ‘s ambassador to Canada.
The body will stay for an overnight vigil at Rongoro on Thursday night and vigil. It will be transported to St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Mbale town for a funeral service on Friday morning and the after taken to his home in Busano for a night vigil before burial the next day.
The late Wamimbi will be remembered for uniting the Bamasaba, his role in the revival of Bugisu Cooperative Union-BCU, high integrity and uncompromising stand on corruption.
