Buganda Road Court has ordered businesswoman Christine Nabukeera and her son Vincent Mawanda to defend themselves against charges of theft and shop breaking that they allegedly committed between July and September 2020.

The Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Sabula Nambozo made the ruling on Monday after the prosecution led by Allan Mucunguzi presented evidence from nine witnesses implicating the duo for breaking into shop number D21 at Nana Centre building Nabugabo Road belonging to John Kabanda.

The suspects allegedly stole 43 sacks of shoes worth Shillings 350 million, Shillings 175 million in cash, US$ 125,000, a passport and record books belonging to Kabanda. Kabanda left court with dozens of his supporters, mostly traders chanting slogans indicating that they had defeated Nabukeera.  The case will resume on November 28th 2023.
