Justice Jane Frances Abodo, the Director of Public Prosecutions on Thursday morning launched Guidelines aimed at helping Prosecutors to prefer the right charges against suspects.
Dubbed “The decision to Charge Guidelines” also set out the core functions and duties of a Prosecutor in relation to the decision to charge and conduct criminal proceedings so that prosecutors can exercise their functions appropriately.
Speaking at the launch in Kampala, Justice Abodo said consistent use of the guidelines will ensure transparency, and accountability in the exercise of prosecutorial powers and consequently build public confidence and trust in her office and the criminal justice system at large.
