Amidst the ever-growing currents of global influences, the Gender and Culture Affairs State Minister, Mutuuzo Peace Regis, has rooted for the preservation of African values and the unwavering maintenance of family identity. Addressing delegates and stakeholders for the forthcoming Global Peace Festival on Tuesday, Mutuuzo passionately conveyed the urgency of safeguarding cultural norms against the backdrop of mounting pressures to embrace foreign practices.

She raised concerns over attempts to introduce foreign values, notably those concerning homosexuality, into the African landscape. Mutuuzo highlighted the landmark Anti-Homosexuality Act as a testament to the unity of 557 Members of Parliament who resoundingly endorsed the legislation, with a mere two dissenting voices. Her message was unequivocal: ” Our values must be preserved within the framework of a traditional mother and father, not through artificial constructs,” she emphasized.

Minister Mutuuzo reasserted that genuine values flourish within the nurturing bounds of natural parenthood, devoid of contrived gender paradigms. While asserting the call for respect and understanding of Uganda’s cultural tapestry and ideological foundation, Minister Mutuuzo’s words resonated as a steadfast plea for the recognition of African uniqueness.

“They should halt the pressure and respect our values, family identity, and ideology,” she said. In a spirit of collaboration and unity, the Minister extended a warm embrace to the proposition of hosting the Global Peace Festival in Kampala—an event slated for May next year. Mutuuzo assured festival organizers of the unwavering commitment of the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development.

The festival’s overarching objective is to cultivate global harmony and cooperation, epitomizing the essence of peace. Mutuuzo urged religious institutions to recalibrate their perspectives on gender equality by elevating women to leadership positions within their congregations. This holistic approach to fostering gender parity within religious contexts echoed her broader call for the empowerment of women across various domains.

David Caprara, a Strategic Advisor of the Global Peace Initiative, aligned his sentiments with Uganda’s unwavering dedication to preserving its rich cultural identity. Recognizing that this commitment transcends borders, he unveiled plans to collaborate with the Ugandan embassy in New York, fostering a united African perspective on issues including homosexuality.

Flanked by Mr. Jinman Kwak, the International President of the Family Peace Association, Caprara extended heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development for its invaluable partnership in realizing the forthcoming Global Peace Festival.
