Our Parliament 13: MTN Petition
Users of MTN are not happy with the quality of its service. Complaints about network interference and the high fees charged for services such as mobile money have reached Parliament in the form of a petition. The petitioners claim MTN users in Uganda need protection from an exploitative service provider. The unhappy consumers have chosen to take their grievances to Parliament and not to the Uganda Communications Commission, UCC, the government body tasked by law to supervise communications services and protect consumers from exploitation. Instead they have petitioned against UCC as well. Does this mean consumers have no confidence in the UCC? If so what can Parliament do?
