A 34-year-old Rwandan national was on Monday found dead in a lodge in Kabale district. Colodine Nyirabizimana was found dead in New Califonia T & J Bar and Lodge located in Kigongi along, Kabale, Mbarara main street in Central Division, Kabale Municipality. New Califonia T & J Lodge is a popular hangout for commercial sex workers in Kigezi sub-region.
Evan Twinomugisha, the manager of the hangout says that Nyirabizimana was last seen on Sunday night with a yet-to-be-identified man believed to be his customer as they drunk and danced in the bar. Later, they were seen walking to Nyirabizimana’s room number 9 in the same bar.
Twinomugisha says that in the morning, they waited for Nyirabizimana to wake up and pay for the room in vain. Twinomugisha says that as he forcefully opened the door, he found Nyirabizimana lying dead on the bed. Elly Maate, Police spokesperson for Kigezi region confirms the incident, saying that the deceased’s body has been taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.
The case is registered at Kabale central police station under file number CRB 761/2023. The hangout has a record of registering customers’ deaths. In May 2018, Stephen Kangiriho, a Special Forces Command-SFC soldier was stabbed to death by an unidentified reveler during a fight over a sex worker.
Kangiriho got into a fight with an unidentified reveler when he tried to forcefully grab a sex worker from him. Kangiriho was part of the advance team of the security detail of First Lady, Janet Kataha Museveni who is expected to officiate at the Open Day of Kabale University.
