Four Ugandans Nominated for the 12th African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year 2023

Four Ugandans have made the list of nominees for the 12th African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year 2023. They are Patrick Bitature, the Founder and chairman, of Simba Group, Uganda who has been nominated under the African Industrialist of the Year category, Prof. George Openjuru, Vice Chancellor, of Gulu University under the African Educationist of the Year, Ernest Rubondo, Executive Director, Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) under the African Public Sector Leader of the Year category and Winnie Byanyima, the Executive Director, UNAIDS under the African Female Leader of the Year.

The call for nominations, which attracted submissions from Africans across the continent and in the Diaspora, culminated in the unveiling of a shortlist of exceptional individuals. Now, the public is encouraged to participate in the voting process by visiting the ALM website (www.africanleadershipmagazine.co.uk) before voting closes on Thursday, 14 December 2023, at midnight (CAT).

The ALM Persons of the Year Awards is a significant endorsement, celebrating Africans contributing significantly to the continent’s progress and reshaping its global image. This process involves a two-step selection, engaging Africans globally in choosing winners across diverse categories. The nominees represent resilience, innovation, and dedication in harnessing untapped potentials and innovative solutions for Africa’s development.

Notably, among the nominees are outstanding leaders from Uganda, exemplifying resilience and resourcefulness in their contributions to the continent. These leaders have demonstrated remarkable achievements and commitment to fostering growth, prosperity, and resilience within African economies.

Following the close of voting, winners of the ALM Persons of the Year Awards 2023 will be revealed during the grand ALM Persons of the Year Awards Ceremony 2024, scheduled for February 22 – 23, 2024, at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This event, in partnership with the Ethiopian Customs Commission (ECC), emphasizes ‘Building Resilient African Economies.’

The ALM POTY awards presentation remains a significant platform for celebrating leadership and fostering Pan-African agendas. This event convenes policymakers, private sector leaders, civil society, and thought leaders across Africa and beyond, showcasing the continent’s socio-economic growth and development while honoring remarkable individuals championing a Pan-African vision.
