This edition of the National Perspective is a follow-up to a recent report by the UN Joint Program of HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). The reports said there is a clear path to ending AIDS by 2030. It suggested the need for strong political leadership, the need for domestic funding of HIV/AIDS, and the need to tackle inequalities and ensure sustainable funding.

Given that Uganda is among the countries that are yet to hit targets in its HIV/AIDs programming, we bring you excerpts of the report as told by former MP, Winnie Byanyima, the Executive Director of UNAIDS. She talks about what leadership can do, and why domestic financing is key, and the achievements in fighting HIV/AIDS over the 25 year period.
