Lack of National Identification Cards is hampering National Resistance Movement (NRM) party register update exercise in Kabale and Rubanda districts.

The exercise that started on July 13, 2024 is ending on Sunday (July 17). However, some of the voters interested in getting registered are being turned away due to lack of national identity cards.

Edison Owoyesigyire, Kyobugombe village registrar in Katenga parish and Phoebe Atukundire, Kyarukore village registrar in Bugarama parish, Kaharo Sub County, Kabale district say that they have turned away more than 10 people each who were interested in registering but lacked National Identification Cards.

Affected locals in Rubanda district led by Justus Ensiteriyeitu, Igomanda parish NRM party LC2 Chairman in Hamurwa Sub County say that the issue should be looked into so that they get registered or else it may be an advantage for other parties to grab those denied.  David Bahati, Kabale District NRM Party Chairman calls for patience saying that the matter will be discussed for a way forward when top party officials sit.
