Friday Musoke and his girlfriend, Enid Kanyonyozi, both residents of Bombo 21miles zone in Bombo town council, are battling charges of conspiracy to murder Lilian Namboowa. The accused allegedly hired Dr. Onesmus Bainomugisha at Global Medical Center to kill Namboowa, who has four children with Musoke at Shillings 5 million.

The incident came to light on January 1st, 2023, when Dr. Bainomugisha, who was approached by Kanyonyozi, reported the plot to the police. Musoke was involved in an extramarital affair with Kanyonyozi, a tailor from the same zone.

On Monday, Musoke and Kanyonyozi appeared before Luwero Chief Magistrate, Mariam Nalugya Ssemwanga to testify against the two love birds. The State Prosecution, led by Gloria Akello, presented Detective Sergeant Richard Mubiru Bugalanyo, a Crime Intelligence Officer attached to Savannah Regional Police Flying Squad who told the court that he received instructions from the Luwero District Police Commander on December 31st, 2022, to meet with Dr. Bainomugisha regarding his report against the accused.

According to Bugalanyo’s testimony, Dr. Bainomugisha informed him of Kanyonyozi’s request for his assistance in killing Namboowa through a medical procedure. The doctor provided evidence in the form of a phone recording, where Musoke promised him Shillings 5 million for executing the sinister plan.

Bugalanyo revealed that Musoke intended to use chloroform to incapacitate his wife before transporting her to the medical center, where Dr. Bainomugisha would administer the lethal injection. In cooperation with the doctor, they ensured that the provided chloroform was non-toxic, avoiding any potential danger if Musoke tried to evade arrest.

The detective stated that Musoke arrived on a Boda Boda at the medical center on the following day, where he was given the non-toxic liquid to carry out the plan. Bugalanyo, along with other detectives, promptly arrested Musoke and the Boda Boda rider, Joel Kibirango, who transported Musoke to the health center without knowledge of his plot.

During the arrest, Musoke reportedly apologized and admitted to his intentions, claiming that his wife had made his life difficult, usurped his authority, and turned their four children against him. Luwero Chief Magistrate Mariam Nalugya Ssemwanga remanded the accused to September 4th, this year, for further hearings and bail application.

The defense lawyer, Sowali Katamba, filed a bail application, citing the accused person’s need for medical treatment. However, the Magistrate advised them to seek medical services at Murchison Bay Hospital until the court decides on the application.

Earlier, Dr. Bainomugisha, a key prosecution witness, testified that he recorded conversations with the accused persons discussing the murder plot through medical means, as it would be less likely to raise suspicions from the victim’s relatives.

Kanyonyozi allegedly delivered an initial deposit of 500,000 Shillings to Dr. Bainomugisha on December 29th, 2022, as part of the arrangement to execute the sinister plan.
