Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has decried the rampant cases of indiscipline exhibited by young people on social media. According to Sheikh Mubaje, many young people take to social media to insult and abuse people they disagree with.

“They abused Mubaje and some people encouraged them. They went for Bishops and have now started on the Kabaka,” Sheikh Mubaje said on Saturday while presiding over the memorial prayers for Fatuma Kalema in Katereke village in Nsangi town council on Saturday.

He asked parents to ensure their children grow up with discipline. “It is your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child grows up with discipline. Ensure that you follow up with the schools where you send your children to see what they are learning,” he said. “Children who go to schools with some religious training are often well-behaved,” he added.

He explained that children without discipline always dent the image of their families. “When you see children without discipline, it is often the depiction of where they come from,” he said. speaking about the state of Muslim affairs, Sheikh Mubaje noted that they were carrying on without their duties normally despite the noise by a few misguided individuals. “Your headquarters are calm. We are carrying on without duties normally,” he said.

He scoffed at those who think they can parachute into Muslim leadership without going through the laid down procedures. “The revised UMSC constitution put in place stringent guidelines for the election of leaders into our structures. No one will come into office without fulfilling the requirements,” he said. Earlier on the UMSC Secretary General, Hadji Abaasa Muluubya, urged Muslims to support UMSC projects such as the Islamic Call University College, GTV, and Radio Bilal.
