Trial of Businesswoman Accused of Vehicle Theft Postponed to September 26

The case of a 28-year-old businesswoman accused of stealing a motor vehicle belonging to Kigezi Diocese from the burial of the late Apollo Nyegamahe, also known as Aponye, in Rukiga district has been pushed to September 26, 2023.

Shamim Batariro, a resident of Ruhinja village in Wakiso district, is accused of stealing a grey Suzuki vehicle registration number UAT 478N on July 12, 2023. The vehicle had transported clerics from Kikungiri Archdeaconry, led by Archdeacon Venerable Canon Amos Tweteise, to the burial service in Kitaburaza village, Muhanga town council.

The hearing kicked off before Kabale Chief Magistrates Court on August 10. His Worship Julius Mutabazi, the Kabale Grade One Magistrate pushed the case to September 26, 2023, on the grounds that Kabale Chief Magistrate, Derrick Byamugisha is out of office on official duties.
